Shannon Horn Truss graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University. She began her career in the business world at Asurion where she learned to write proposals, craft presentations and manage programs. She also learned that she’s motivated by working for a mission, not just a paycheck. Stints at Junior Achievement, Rejoice Ministries, St. Bartholomew’s and Dovehouse Ministries allowed her to use her business skills in a new environment and further someone else’s mission.

Homeschooling her children led her to found Weekday Eastside Bridge (WEB). That tutorial that grew from a small venture to an organization with a budget of more than a half million dollars annually, a staff of twenty-five and hundreds of families served. With WEB up and running effectively, Shannon handed WEB over to a new Executive Director to complete her training as a Spiritual Director with Dovehouse Ministries. She founded her spiritual direction practice Sanctuary Invitations in 2022.

Shannon grew up on the Alabama Gulf Coast, where there was salt in the air and red clay doubled as soil. She has been married to Jason for nearly three decades and is mother to Anna, Bekah, Kate and Wenchi. She’s also the proud pet mom of three pound maltipoo, Luna, the smallest dog you’ve never met.
